Welcome to sallysfriends.net!

- the place for idiots who at some point have been tempted to help out Lisbeth Salander.
To be friendly towards a troubled punk-hacker-girl, who all too often ends up getting in the way of serial killers, corrupt politicians or just get shot by Soviet ex-spies.
Idiots who have found out – the hard way – that being friends with a girl who plays with fire is perhaps a bit more than they bargained for…!
Just like journalist Mikael Blomkvist from the late Stieg Larsson’s magnificent Millennium-trilogy to which this fan-site is dedicated.
Because, you know, Lisbeth Salander is not easy to befriend, and I don’t think any of us ever really will be able to. But we might do our best, again and again, to lend her a hand when she’s gotten herself into new trouble, treating her with dignity and respect. And even if we never get anything in return … well, maybe it will still be worth it. Maybe. With Lisbeth you never quite know for sure.
… Consider this a fair warning.

“TAKING A BREAK NOW” - A personal message from your friendly sallysfriends.net webmaster, Christopher Marcus:
Yes, it’s true: Like Sally and Micke I have moved on to other adventures.
This is partially due to a lack of time, but also because I feel that I’ve done what I could, and felt like doing, in contributing to preserving Stieg Larsson’s legacy – long after all the smoke has cleared and all the hype about the new Hollywood-movie have died down.
Larsson’s message about justice and sexual equality, the uniqueness of his characters – especially Sally – and the refreshing intensity with which he told his stories … they are what lasts – what we will never forget. I will never forget these novels, and they will always remain a HUGE inspiration to me in my own writing, even if my choice of genre and style are different.
Anyway, should you feel like having a peek at my new projects, you can read my short stories and flash fictions about Carrie Sawyer – recovering artist, restless traveller, mum-in-training … and the people who befriended her, loved her and (more often than you’d think) tried to kill her – at my “Shade of the Morning Sun” web site.
Be well, all you Sally-friends out there!
- Chris
P.S. I haven’t seen Fincher’s movie … but if anybody has a good in-depth review of it they’d like me to publish here, please email me: chris_at_sallysfriends.net.
That also goes, if you find anything else on the web that you think would be interesting to Sally-fans all over the world. I would like to add to this site, over time, some of the best stuff that others have written, or continue to write, about Millennium. But I can’t do it alone.
Finally, here’s another plug for my stories – I hope you will have a look …
MY NEWEST STORIES:
When They Asked Me If I Knew You – Carrie dreams of doing important things. One day she borrows a book from an old lady. From now on her dreams won’t ever be the same … (Short story – published 4.1.2012)
This story is rather special for me, as a Stieg Larsson-fan, as it is about Nazism – and, perhaps, what it takes to fight against it. It’s a bit of an experiment, though, but I hope that I won’t be the only one who likes it …
All I Wanna Say IS – A story about whether or not it’s worth making graphic novel if next to nobody is going to read it (short story – published 27.12.2011)
Is Your Love Strong Enough – Carrie struggles to find balance between her old passion for drawing and family demands. One morning she makes a choice … (short story – published 26.12.2011)
It Couldn’t Happen Here - Dave has nightmares about a world war that never happened … or maybe it has? (Short story – published 24.12.2011)
*
+ a little experiment:
“Dangerous Days”: Second original post from my main protagonist – Carrie’s – new blog. This one is about is about how long it takes to forgive somebody for killing herself …. and *what* it takes … (published 26.1.2012)
