Affiliation status of this site

sallysfriends.net is an unofficial, independent fan-site.

It was started by me, Christopher Marcus, on my own initiative.

sallysfriends.net is NOT affiliated with Nordstedt’s Forlag, with any foreign publishers of Stieg’s books, with the movie production company Yellow Bird or its affiliates and partners, nor with Eva Gabrielsson or with the rest of Stieg’s family or with anyone else I forgot to mention but who may have some copyright claim or other to Stieg’s work.

The characters of the Millennium books  – Lisbeth Salander, Mikael Blomkvist and so on – are copyright one or more of the entities and people mentioned above. They are only written about on this site as part of a fan tribute to the work of their creator … Stieg Larsson. (Phew.)

The fan fiction entries are likewise only written by me – with help from other fans – as part of a tribute to our favourite author and his characters, and as a means to promote both for free.

Economic status of this site

sallysfriends.net is a non-profit site.

What this means is that no money is made directly from selling any of the material published on this site.

It also means that the money I do make indirectly from my I-finally-got-my-act-together-and-put-it-up Amazon affiliate Supercapitalistic Sally-Shop will NEVER at any point in time be more than I need to cover basic living expenses and bills – such as food, rent, telephone, internet, loan payments, etc. – all of which at the moment amount to about 4000 dollars per month.

Since I currently (May 2010) earn 0 dollars from my site it’s going to take some time before that becomes an issue. Should my income ever exceed 4000 dollars per month (I wish!), I’ll donate the surplus to  www.supporteva.com. And that’s it.

Photo-policy

I’ve been rather indiscriminate in uploading pics to the site. There are quite a few promo-shots in circulation out there, especially from the movie and I simply don’t have the time to check their copyright status. So if I have uploaded any photo to this site that you don’t want here, please just tell me to take it down before you take more drastic measures – such as hiring Ronald Niedermann or the likes.

I’ll remove material you don’t want here in two seconds. Promise. Just gimme a chance to do it, before you blow me away.

Aaalternatively: If you just want to be credited with a link to your own site, tell me, I’ll be glad to put that up for you.

Music

On various parts of sallysfriends.net I’ve put up links to YouTube-hosted music videos that (I feel) underscores the mood of a certain topic or story – or which is just plain cool. The videos are the responsibility of their respective uploaders on YouTube. (And that includes whether they work or not, but if you find a dead link do let me know. If nothing else, drop a comment on the page.)

And if you find this to be a particularly un-elegant way to brush away any personal responsibility for using an artist’s copyrighted music when it may – or may not – have been uploaded illegally to YouTube, then you’d be absolutely right!
